Programming for Designers

Learning PHP & MySQL at Platt College

Milestone #2

This is where you create a document that shows your tables, the names and types of data you plan to store in them as well as the relationships between them. It is recommended, but not required to do some screen flows. This may help you understand what pieces of data you need better and how complicated your idea may be. See the examples included below: ERD

Blog Screen Flow

Part One

Your initial ERD is due on Feb 1.

Part Two

Schedule an appointment to meet with me on one of the following days: Monday 2/5, Tuesday 2/6, Wednesday 2/7. This can be before, during break or after class to discuss your Database Structure.

Part Three

Once you have your complete ERD, use PHPMyAdmin to create your database structure so that you have places to input data for your project. Once your updated diagram has been turned in via the submissions form, you can start entering the structure and data into your database. The db structure should be complete and approved by end of day on Feb 12 and in your actual database. Failure to meet any of these requirements will have an impact on your milestone 2 grade.
